A BERGAMA RUG
West Anatolia, circa 1850
The brick-red field scattered with minor flowerheads around a large central hooked square panel containing a rosette issuing angular vine, the paired octagonal hooked polychrome panels at each end containing a radiating flowerhead issuing hooked panels, in a shaded blue border of polychrome flowerheads together with linked arrowheads between rust vine meander, ivory flowerhead and X-meander and chequered stripes, kilim weave at each end, minor repairs
