Bergama This red-ground Bergama presents a powerful dark blue shield form enclosing a red stepped motif and a green, diamond-shaped central medallion. The golden yellow border is decorated with a geometric, stylised vine and star-shaped blossoms. The field design follows the much earlier tradition of Ghirlandaio carpets, proving how persistently weavers adhered to traditional concepts, especially in the Bergama region. – Original upper kilim finish, somewhat reduced at the bottom, new overcasting along the sides. Various old restored areas.
