Bergama This red-ground Bergama presents a powerful dark blue shield form enclosing a red stepped motif and a green, diamond-shaped central medallion. The golden yellow border is decorated with a geometric, stylised vine and star-shaped blossoms. The field design follows the much earlier tradition of Ghirlandaio carpets, proving how persistently weavers adhered to traditional concepts, especially in the Bergama region. Original upper kilim finish, somewhat reduced at the bottom, new overcasting along the sides. Various old restored areas.
