Antique Baku Surakhani large carpet

Code: BKSR01

Age: 1890s

Size
: 147x246cm

Size (ft): 4'10"x8'1"

Structure: wool pile, brown wool warps and ivory wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Condition: Very good condition with a few very small repairs

Design: The medium indigo field with two panels of stepped red and medium blue stepped sunburst medallions containing cross shaped flowerheads. Hooked "garmagly" lozenges, star motives between the medallions. Diagonal stripes containing small "Z" shaped elements constitues the motif of the main border. Carnation motif minor borders in a dark brown ground.
