Antique Serab rug in a camel ground

Code: SRB01

Age: circa 1910

Size
: 110x167cm

Size (ft): 3'7"x5'5"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and ivory wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Condition: very good, full file, good colors, excellent condition

Design: The rug was woven in the village of Serab, located in the Sabalan mountain range near Heriz in Iranian Azerbaijan.

This undyed camel beige antique Serab rug demonstrates various geometric and floral motifs with a glowing palette of sumptuous colors. The ivory ground main border with assorted tribal motifs is surrended by a blue ground trefoil motif border. A serrated diamond medallion containing a cross shaped centrepiece with flower head motifs is situated at the centre of a keyhole outlined field. The boteh motifs in the spandrels are stylized in a folkloric artistry manner.
