Antique Akstafa Bird rug in a dark blue ground

Age: late 19th century

Size
: 130x295cm

Size (ft): 4'3"x9'8"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Description:  The indigo medium blue field with scattered geometric tribal motifs and angular flowerheads, botehs with various animal, peacock and other small bird figures surrounding a central column of 4 angular and stepped polychrome medallions, in an ivory border of kochanak motifs.
