A SEWAN KAZAK RUG
SOUTH CAUCASUS, CIRCA 1850
The shaded brick-red field with small circular motifs, octagons and S-motifs around hooked tendrils issuing from a bold concentric ivory, pale pistachio-green and light red shield medallion containing similar motifs, in an ivory border of polychrome angular palmettes between light blue angular meander, reciprocal skittle-pattern and minor barber-pole stripes, scattered repairs and repiling, selvages and ends replaced
