Carpet with "Garden" design, 18th century. Brooklyn Museum

Carpet with Garden Design

Known as a garden carpet, it represents a stylized version of a traditional Persian garden, with landscaped sections divided by pools and channels of water. Flowering shrubs dot the field, while small fish inhabit the central pool of water, depicted as a series of zigzagging lines.
