Early floral carpet. 18th century, Azerbaijan. Türk ve İslam Eserleri Museum, Istanbul. Acquired 30 January 1936. inv. no 890 (1-533) from Sivas. 171 x 304 cm. published Serare Yetkin's "Early Caucasian carpets in Turkey", plate 40. Design: Sequence of highly stylized angular yellow, red and blue palmettes which resemble cypress trees, and contain blue, yellow and red flowers and leaves, outlined in brown linked on a stem to a smaller yellow or blue palmette.
