General/Historical Information:  The name of Herat Pirabadil rugs that belong to Guba Group of Azerbaijan Carpets, related with the village “Pirabadil” that located 15 km to east of Guba City. Carpet specialists named this carpet "Herati", but it has been known with the name "Uruseat" among carpet makers. Because this carpet was appreciated by Russian people and was always demanded by Russian market. 

Historically this carpet firstly made in Herat, Afghanistan. In the beginning it was spread among carpet weaving districts in South Azerbaijan, and later in North Azerbaijan (today's Azerbaijan Republic). In Karabagh it was well known with the name "Balyq" that means "fish".

Art Analysis: The ornament of this carpet was very characteristic to North Eastern Azerbaijani Carpets (Guba), therefore it was widely spread in this region.

This carpet differs from another Guba carpets with both its composition and colors. The background is generally dark brick, but sometimes it could be blue. In Karabagh region, only the elements of the carpet are made in dark brick color.

Colors: Naturally dyed

AGE: about 60 years

Condition: very good

Technical Analysis: Density of "Herat Pirabadil" carpets varies from 30x30 to 40x40 per square decimeter. (from 90.000 to 160.000 knots per square meter)

The height of pile: 7-9 mm

Comments: Carpet "Herat Pirabadil" is considered as one of the best samples of Guba Region.
