Lot: 119 Karakecili The Karakecili tribe inhabits the mountainous
hinterland of the Bergama region. Its knotted rugs, often woven in large
formats, are always dark in colour scheme. This remarkable, very
well-preserved example showing a rather rare composition of two huge
interlocked diamonds was published by Bausback in 1987. The brilliant
white frame separating the field from the wide border section is the
defining feature of the rug. Origin: North West Anatolia, Bergama
