A rare antique Azerbaijan shrub lattice rug in a blue ground, NW Iran

Code: SAZLT01

Age: late 19th century

Size
: 112x310cm

Size (ft): 3'8"x10'2"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and ivory wool wefts

Ends: Rows of decorative knotted meshwork

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Description: The blue field with an overall lattice design containing stylised floral motifs or double head eagle motifs, in an ivory "ashyg" motif meander border between red and blue floral meander stripes and yellow "garmagly" medakhil. All natural colors. Good condition. Woven probably in Savalan area.
