Antique Azerbaijan carpet in a dark brown ground, North west Iran, late 19th century

Structure: wool pile, wool warps (tan) and dark wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Description: A small antique Azerbaijan rug in a natural brown sheep wool ground probably from Saujbulag area. Latticed field with ram's horn horn motifs. A rare ashyk motif main border. Good natural colors. Selvedges rebound.
