Antique Bordjalou Garmagly rug Code: BRCHGM01 Age: late 19th century Size: 145x200cm Size (ft): 4'9"x6'6" Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and red wool wefts. Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical) Description: This highly artful Borchaly (so called Bordjalou) rug in a shaded madder red field has three polychrome hooked lozenge 'garmagly' medallions, in a broad ivory border of multiple polychrome half hooked garmagly panels between polychrome zigzag and mill-pattern stripes, inner serrated stripe. The border abstractly echoes with the garmagly hooked lozenge medallions.Vigorous palette of natural colors and bold archaic graphics. Good condition, slight corrosive brown, some repiling.
