Antique Turkmen Chodor Ertmen Gul chuval, early 19th century

Description: Classic Chodor chuval with four complete (and 4 half) major angular ertmen guls in ivory and light scarlet red containing a pair of animal/bird anking a central tree; 3 minor ertmen guls (three complete, six halved) in dark blue and emeral green shades with eight pointed star centers; all separated by a irregular zig-zag trellis with lozenge accents, all on a purple brown ground; similar tone main border of kochanak and kochak motifs. Guard bands in scarlet red with angular S pattern scroll. Lower purple-brown elem with seven pairs of dogajik/kotchak/ashik motifs in scarlet red, emerald green, dark blue and ivory; topped with a polychrome herringbone stripe.

Early color tones. A rare example.
