Antique Turkmen Ersary chuval, third quarter 19th century

Size (ft): 2'4"x4'1"

Description: Three columns of three chuval guls each with a quartered centre containing small X motifs and rounded hook forms on the vertical axis. Elaborate chemche secondary guls in between the chuval guls.  The main border carries a kochanak motif in three colours. All natural dyes including beautiful turquoise color, dark blue and three shades of madder.
