Kazak Life Tree Rug (Heyat Aghajy)
Size
: 215x280cm
Size (ft): 7'0"x9'2"
Dyes: 100% natural dyes: madder, spurge / euphorbia, indigo, pomegranate skins
Materials: Handcarded and handspun wool for pile, wool warps and madder dyed red wool wefts
Design: The tree occupied a semantically important position both in the world-outlook and in the ritual of Turks. In the epics of Turkic peoples the tree was the center of life which functioned as an orientation point in time and space: many epic themes concentrate around the tree, principal events and decisive encounters of epic heroes take place there.
