Kuba Seichour (Zeykhur) prayer rug

Size (metric): 112x147cm
Size (ft): 3'8"x4'9"
Area: 1.64 m2
Density: 170 000 knots per square meter, totally ~280 000 knots
Weaving period: 2 and half months
Colors: madder red, light blue, navy blue (small details), midnight blue, golden yellow, antique ruby/purple, green, natural ivory, natural brown.
Dyes: 100% natural dyes: madder, weld (Reseda Luteola), indigo, pomegranate skins, walnut husks, natural brown sheep wool, natural ivory sheep wool
- all are eco-friendly and non-toxic
Materials: Handcarded and handspun wool for pile, wool warps and cotton wefts
Handwoven in Azerbaijan

Design:
A golden yellow ground filled with the polychrome "double boteh" motifs and various small geometric devices, stylized archaic swastika elements inside the prayer niche and spandrel, in a "Seichour" type border. Dated: 1431. An antique example can be seen here.
