Antique Bordjalou rug, so called "Sewan Kazak" rug, late 19th century, Borchaly / Bordjalou Uyezd


Lot: 61
Sevan Kazak: A powerful, sea-green cruciform shield medallion fills almost the entire field of this red-ground Sevan Kazak. The four corners not covered by the design are decorated with four trees. The blue-ground border showing the leaf and calyx design is accompanied by two wide reciprocal trefoil borders. The original selvedges are partially damaged, remains of the kilim finish survive at the top and bottom. Creases, low spots in the pile, heavy corrosion in the brown.
