Antique Ganja (Genje, Gendje, Gendge) rug, "Ancient Ganja" design, Azerbaijan

Kazaks with large botehs in a composition of wide diagonal stripes are rather rare. This design is more often seen in the Genje region. However, the knotting structure, palette and typically high pile are clear indicators of a provenance in the Kazak region. – Both end finishes have been expertly repiled. Original selvedges, full pile preserved.
