Antique Cloudband Kazak rug, Azerbaijan. H. Manoyan Collection.

Cloudband Kazak ("Chondzoresk Kazak"), Southwest Caucasus, circa 1875. Size:7'11"x3'9" (241x114 cm). Three octagonal medallions fill the madder red field.The two outer are in abrashed blue while the central is in a rich green. All have yellow square swastika centres. Animals and human figures, and other small details are scattered about. The green fringe hook provides a transition to the ivory main border.
