Medallion carpet, early 19th century, Azerbaijan. Türk ve İslam Eserleri Museum, Istanbul. Acquired 9 April 1915. inv. no 82 (3074) from the Mosque of Lala Mustafa Paşa, Erzurum. 150 x 281 cm. published Serare Yetkin's "Early Caucasian carpets in Turkey", plate 102.

Design: Red ground. A large white central medallion contains a rectangle from which four angular leaves filled with green, yellow and blue. The medallion is outlined with dark blue hooks and linked at each end to white cartouche palmettes outlined in yellow and dark blue. A pair of stylized flowers between the medallion and the cartouche palmette have yellow, blue and red petals and blue and red dots. Angular stars, rosettes and yellow and red squares are scattered over the field.
