A rare antique Caucasian Kazak rug, 19th century, NW Azerbaijan


8'.0"x4'.11" (244x150 cm).This attractive example of Southwest Caucasian weaving has an abrashed green field in several tones. There are three full and two half diamond shape multicolor medallions with interesting details such as animals, crosses, dots etc.The main field has botehs, flowers, plants and other devices floating. The unusual main red border harmonizes with the rest of the rug and has animals and human figures. The ivory minor guards and abrashed blue outer border contrast with the field and the main border.
