18th century Caucasian (Azerbaijan) carpets of floral design (and in particular those such as this example with an 'Afshan' or 'Harshang' pattern) represent the link between North West Persian i(Southern Azerbaijan ) carpets of the 16th and 17th centuries and East Caucasian Kuba rugs of the 19th century, such as lot 94 from this sale.
