Antique Kuba Syrt Chichi carpet, last quarter of the 19th century, The State Museum of Azerbaijan Carpet and Applied Art

A piece which displays many of the characteristic features of Chichi rugs, including the dark blue field slightly tinged with green, the Kufic border, and the wealth of compositional details. Chichi rugs are renowned for the extraordinary, jewel-like, quality of their compositions which, on the best examples, give the surface great movement. This piece has somewhat dull colours.
