Renowned for their distinctive style, art-level 19th century Chi-Chi rugs are seldom encountered and avidly sought after by collectors for their signature hooked mandala motif and repeated-prism border design. This exceptional piece presents an animated, dazzling rendition of this great tribal style, while maintaining perfect harmony of elements. The field abounds with ancestral patterns, including diminutive weaver's combs and Star of Wisdom motife. Its sharply rendered profusion of design extends into a virtuoso series of borders. Very good condition for its substantial age reinforces its great appeal.

Note the colorful flower head motif border - amazing arrangement of the colors. The size of this rug is 3'9''x5'9''. Third quarter, 19th century.
