A SEYCHOUR RUG
East Caucasus, circa 1880
The shaded blue field with an overall design of bold abstract pink and red rosettes and floral sprays with scattered abstract geometric motifs and small figures, in a narrow plain blue border, scattered areas of repiling, ends rewoven and selvages replaced
7ft.8in. x 3ft.7in. (234cm. x 109cm.)
 

Lot Notes
A similar example in a private American collection shows clearly with its braided warps at each end that the rug was designed without a border (Tschebull, R.: "Zeikhur", Hali, 62, April 1992, pl.12, p.89)
