Antique Zeikhur garden design rug, Northern Kuba Region, Azerbaijan.

Zeikhur The black-brown field has a floral design of large trees in green, blue and red, placed in offset rows and drawn with huge leaves and blossoms in pastel shades; they are interspersed with a number of animals. The narrow border consists of two stripes of equal width. Not originally in the Caucasian tradition, this design may derive from French fabrics. Made for export to Czarist Russia, carpets of this type catered for the prevailing upper class taste based on French preferences. – Original finishes all around, both lower corners restored.
