A KARAGASHLI RUG
EAST CAUCASUS, CIRCA 1880
The indigo field scattered with a variety of floral motifs around a column of six concentric rust-red and mid-blue stepped lozenge medallions, a palmette serrated pendant above and below, in a golden yellow border of polychrome angular S-motifs between shaded rust-red and mid-blue flowerhead stripes, narrow mill-pattern minor stripes, full pile throughout with a short original kilim strip at each end, one with short knotted fringes, overall excellent condition
