317-A MOGHAN RUG
South Caucasus, circa 1860
The shaded powder-blue field scattered with geometric and angular motifs around a central column of hooked polychrome palmettes with angular arabesque centrepieces, in an ivory serrated leaf and glass border between celadon-green and shaded powder-blue angular polychrome flowerhead stripes, localised areas of minor wear, selvages rebound, natural corrosion in black, outer stripe rewoven at both ends, one or two spot repairs in outer border
