92 - AN AKSTAFA RUNNER
East Caucasus, circa 1860
The indigo field with scattered geometric motifs and angular flowerheads with various animal, bird and human figures surrounding a central column of angular and stepped polychrome medallions, in an ivory border of polychrome hooked motifs between brick-red and shaded blue S-motif and narrow mill-pattern outer stripes, good pile throughout with very minor areas of localised wear, corroded black and red, a couple of small repairs
