Lot Description
A PART METAL-THREAD SHIRVAN PRAYER RUG
EAST CAUCASUS, DATED AH 1267/1850 AD
Lightly corroded black and brown, a few small cobbled repairs with associated repiling, minute spots of old moth damage
3ft.9in. x 3ft.6in. (114cm. x 107cm.)

Lot Notes
The metal-thread in this rug is a very rare feature for Shirvan rugs. It is used in a very few places and the filaments wrapped in metal-thread are knotted, meaning that very little shiny metal indeed was ever visible on the face of the rug.
