Shirvan Prayer Rug An early dated Shirvan prayer rug (1263 AH = 1848 AD).
The white field below the blue mihrab is covered in a net-like diamond
lattice enclosing flowering shrubs, with small crosses placed at the
intersections. A house-like design is seen below the arch. A larger-scale
design of four diamonds and chevrons has been used above the prayer arch.
The classic main border design shows birds stylised to S-shapes. – Replaced
selvedges, both ends slightly reduced, uniformly low pile. A major restored
crease at the centre of the field, various minor repairs.
