Antique Shirvan kilim, early 20th century, Azerbaijan.

Antique Shah Savan kilim, Azerbadjian, border area of the Caucasus and N.W. Persia, Ca 1900.
These stunning kilims are among the most decorative flat weaves known. Strong and bold "animal head" hexagons on uncluttered horisontal bands in clear, natural colours, also of very fine weave. Such pieces were rarely used on floors, only on exceptional occasions, which is why they are sometimes discovered in untouched, original condition. A beautiful example of its kind in remarkable condition.
