Antique Shirvan Tachte / Saph (Saf) rug, Azerbaijan. Attributed to "Kuba Avar" by its owner. 116 x 151 cm

In the azure field, a tree decorated with star-shaped blossoms divides two rows of motifs, each consisting of two house-like forms and an architectural design ("throne of Solomon"), which is typical of Shirvans of the "Tachte" group. The designs of the two narrow borders belong to the Shirvan tradition, but the drawing is robust, which is partially due to the coarse weave. A collector's item of ethnological interest. Completely preserved with the original finishes, slight signs of wear in the pile.
