Antique Shirvan or Khizi rug


Lot: 24
Shirvan A green-ground orduch shield medallion dominates the red field of this carpet from the Shirvan region. The corners are accentuated by blue triangles outlined in yellow. The white border shows a double vine decorated with stylised bird's heads. The orduch design is often encountered in rugs from the Kuba region, and sometimes also occurs in the Kazak area (example in Herrmann). Good condition, original selvedges, new overcasting on the ends.
