Antique Hadji Jalili Tabriz rug, Azerbaijan, NW Iran, 4'7" x 5'11"

Every inch of this area-size gem is captivating. The play of intentionally opaque, barely visible budding vinery is punctuated by more vivid motifs, and is rendered more enthralling by constant horizontal striation of color, an intentional shading technique known as abrash. This is most notable along the horizontal borders and across the open rust field. Of consummate quality, this gem is in virtually perfect condition.
