Antique Tabriz Hadji Jalili carpet, Azerbaijan, NW Iran, 8'5" x 12'4", Claremont Rug Company

Hadji Jallili Tabriz
circa 1875
8ft 5in X 12ft 4in
These impassioned art connoisseurs lovingly assembled the Roman Collection over a 50-year period. One of the most dazzling pieces in their expansive group of classical carpets is this nearly perfectly preserved Tabriz, attributable to the renowned Hadji Jallili workshop. Its dexterously rendered vinery and blossom dance around its inner star-formed medallion, and its masterful palette includes numerous hues that are virtually never seen. Its surface literally shimmers, indicating its use of the finest quality wool.
